The lightning-caused Arden Wildfire near Shell Reservoir and Adelaide Lake began on Tuesday, July 19, and grew to about 350 acres by the following day. The fire burned in heavy timber but was actively suppressed and only grew to over 500 acres by July 25. Area closures in the Bighorn National Forest in the vicinity of the fire were enacted. The fire was largely contained by July 28, after consuming 544 acres.
