A moderate to heavy rain event on the 21st of the month helped to ease the drought across the Finger Lakes Region and Central Southern Tier. The U.S. Drought Monitor Extreme Drought classification was improved to just long term Severe Drought in areas extending from west of Binghamton to Penn Yan, New York. Moderate Drought surrounds the rest of the counties.
