Event narrative

Heavy snow fell across portions of the northern Big Horn Basin. The heaviest snow was around the Lovell and Cowley areas where there were many reports of 7 to 9 inches.

Wider weather episode

A slow-moving frontal boundary and favorable jet stream dynamics combined to produce localized heavy snow bands across portions of the northern Big Horn Basin. An area stretching roughly from Powell to Lovell saw up to nine inches of snowfall. The heavy snow gradient was sharp as only 10 to 20 miles away from this line snow totals were generally three inches or less.
