A pair of 59 mph wind gusts were recorded at the sensor at I-25.

Wider weather episode

A cold front approaching Wyoming from the west generated strong wind across western and central Wyoming. The associated pressure gradient combined with a favorable jet level wind and a very strong mid-level wind that mixed to the surface. The result was widespread high wind with frequent gusts in excess of 65 mph. The strongest winds were across of portions of Park County where wind gusts were clocked as high as 103 mph along the Chief Joseph Highway and 90 mph in the vicinity of Clark. Wind gusts over 58 mph were also reported in portions of Fremont, Natrona and Johnson counties.
