Event narrative

Snow accumulation of 6-9 inches. Two men died after shoveling snow according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner.

Wider weather episode

A long duration snowstorm that was comprised of two rounds of snow affected southern WI during the afternoon and evening on Dec. 16th and again on Dec. 17th. The first round of snow was associated with relatively mild and moist air moving into the mid levels of the atmosphere. The second round of snow was associated with the approaching upper trough of low pressure. Roads became snow covered for both events with a large number of vehicle slide-offs and some accidents across southern WI. Many schools had an early release for the afternoon of Dec. 16th. Two men died in Milwaukee after shoveling snow.
