King Cove ASOS recorded a gust of 66 knots at 5 p.m.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system developed just south of the Aleutian chain and brought a frontal system through the Eastern Aleutians and the Alaska Peninsula. Westerly winds behind the front were enhanced by terrain.
