Event narrative

A 22-year-old man died after a tree branch downed by strong winds crashed through his windshield. The man was driving on Route 944 in Silver Spring Township when the branch struck him in the chest around 2340 EST. He was taken to West Shore Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Strong winds on the backside of a powerful coastal storm produced widespread gusts between 40 and 55 mph across Central Pennsylvania during the late-evening and into the overnight hours.
