Event narrative

Estimate the Columbia Gorge had around 0.2 to 0.5 inch of ice accumulation as temperatures in the lower 30s with reports of snow and freezing rain in Hood River.

Wider weather episode

A warmer low pressure system moved into to Southwest Washington, bringing high winds along the South Washington Coast. Cold east winds through the Columbia River Gorge continued for the first part of the event, leading to accumulating snow in the Columbia River Gorge. Snow in this area transitioned to freezing rain, then transitioned to rain by December 20.
