The wider storm

An area of low pressure off the Delmarva Peninsula on the morning of the 9th intensified rapidly as it moved northeast through the Gulf of Maine during the day. Snowfall amounts across western Maine generally ranged from several inches in the northern mountains to around 12 inches in southern York County.
