Event narrative
The Holiday wildfire started during the evening hours of April 5th near the Holly Lake mobile home community at the intersection of US 27 and Johnson Street in far western Pembroke Pines. Gusty winds on April 6th and 7th and dry conditions allowed for rapid spread of the fire, which reached 5500 acres by the evening of April 7th. Both Everglades Holiday Park and Mack's Fish Camp located near the fire were threatened and evacuated at times.
