There was weak mid-level ridging from New Mexico into the Big Bend region. An upper level disturbance moved over the area with good heating of the higher terrain. There was good wind shear, instability, and moisture across the area. These conditions produced thunderstorms with large hail in and near the Big Bend and Davis Mountains.
