Wider weather episode

Very strong high pressure aloft developed across the Desert Southwest in mid to late June. This lead to prolonged excessive heat across the lower deserts of northern Arizona. High temperatures exceeded 110 over the lower elevations of Yavapai County and along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Numerous high temperature records were tied or broken, even at higher elevations.
