Event narrative

Multiple members of the media reported that 4 swimmers were pulled out of the water from Ocean Reef Park and City Beach Municipal Park. These locations are near/on Singer Island, which is north of Palm Beach. A 14-year-old boy from Pahokee, Florida died in the hospital later that night. The other 3 people rescued were transported to area hospitals.

Gusty southeasterly winds lead to several days of strong rip currents along the Palm Beaches leading into June 25. A total of 11 swimmers were rescued by lifeguards at several county beaches during the mid and late afternoon, near the time of low tide.
