Event narrative
A waterspout was observed by the U.S. Coast Guard and a trained spotter north of Mile Marker 88 of the Overseas Highway in Florida Bay. The waterspout appeared dark grey in color, and very thin.
Wider weather episode
Waterspouts were observed first in association with a convective cloud line developing over the Upper and Middle Florida Keys. Then, as convective outflows disrupted the initial cloud line, a second cloud line developed along and north of the Lower Florida Keys.
