Lookout Pass received 15 inches of snow within 12 hours and this created hazardous conditions. Montana Department of Transportation closed I-90 for 6 hours from 1 am to 5 am MST.
Wider weather episode
A large trough with a subtropical moisture feed brought heavy snow to the mountains of western Montana. Interstate 90 was closed for a period due to the snow.
