Event narrative

A tenth of an inch of ice accumulated across Pontotoc County during the late afternoon to overnight hours of January 25, 2008. Numerous accidents were reported county-wide. One fatal accident occurred on a bridge along Highway 278 and Longview Road. One injury also occurred as a result of the accident.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance moved over North Mississippi during the evening hours of January 25th through the morning hours of January 26th. Freezing rain or drizzle fell over the area as a result with some ice accumulation occurring.
