Wider weather episode
A strong and moist northwest flow developing in the wake of a cold front resulted in development of snow showers across the high terrain of the far western mountains of North Carolina. The first accumulating snowfall of the season was observed across the high elevations along the Tennessee border, where 1 to 4 inches fell, mainly above 4000 feet. Additionally, very gusty winds of 40-50 mph (50-60 mph at the high elevations) developed across the mountains and foothills, with some damage due to a falling tree reported across the foothills.
