King Cove AWOS reported a peak gust of 67 knots at 5:23 p.m. on January 26th.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska shifted westward towards Kodiak Island, tightening the pressure gradient. A series of troughs increased the winds over the Alaska Peninsula and caused near blizzard conditions.
