McKenzie SNOTEL recorded 16 inches of snow from this event, with 13 inches falling over a 9 hour period.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front associated with an upper-level low pressure system brought high winds to the Oregon Coast. This system tapped into some tropical moisture out near Hawaii, enhancing moisture which created heavy snowfall in the Cascades.
