Twelve to seventeen inches of snow fell on Bristol County Rhode Island.

Low pressure moved north from the Florida coast and deepened, passing southeast of Nantucket on Thursday January 4. The storm reached its lowest pressure and strongest pressure gradient as it passed Southern New England. This brought heavy snow and damaging winds to Rhode Island, and caused blizzard conditions at Block Island and near-blizzard conditions at other locations in the state. The storm moved off through the Maritimes on January 5.
