Event narrative

Total snowfall averaged 1 to 2 inches across the county. Several days after the storm, a young woman was killed after her car left the road and crashed down an embankment before landing in a Wake County creek. The vehicle was submerged in the creek, which is located on Robertson Pond Road. Nearby residents said the cold weather and recent snowfall made driving on the road treacherous.

Wider weather episode

A surface low intensified off the Carolina coast, resulting in snow occurring over much of Central North Carolina. Bands of heavy snow developed, resulting in snowfall totals of 3 to 6 inches in some locations.
