Event narrative

A boat carrying 6 passengers capsized in the Hillsborough Bay section of Tampa Bay, south of Davis Island. One person swam to a nearby island, and five others were rescued by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, but one of those individuals died from his injuries. Another was treated at a hospital.

Wider weather episode

A squall line developed ahead of a cold front and moved south through the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the afternoon of the 7th. Some of the stronger thunderstorms produced marine wind gusts along the coast. The winds also caused a boat to capsize in the Tampa Bay, killing one person.
