The automated weather observing equipment at General Mitchell Airport measured a gust of 44 knots as the thunderstorms moved through.
The wider storm
During the late afternoon, scattered thunderstorms moved from southeast Wisconsin over the near shore waters of Lake Michigan. A few of these storms produced hail and strong gusty winds.
