Penny sized hail was reported at the Townsend Bombing Range.
Wider weather episode
A large area of thunderstorms develop upstream of the southeast Georgia region and moved through during the early morning hours in the vicinity of a warm front. A few of these thunderstorms became strong enough to produce damaging wind gusts across interior portions of southeast Georgia. Then in the afternoon, additional thunderstorms developed ahead of a strong cold front, mainly impacting coastal areas of southeast Georgia.
