Event narrative
The Shirrod Hill Idaho Transportation Dept. wind sensor recorded a peak gust of 58 mph.
Wider weather episode
During the morning of April 7th a strong cold front swept across the Idaho Panhandle. In addition to gradient winds which in general gusted to 30 to 40 mph across the Idaho panhandle, a squall line along the southern part of the front contributed rain cooled downdrafts accelerating winds to locally over 60 mph in Nez Perce County. These winds triggered scattered power outages in the area.
