Event narrative
A 59 year old man was visiting Siesta Key from Missouri when he was pulled away from the coast by a rip current. The man was pulled back to the beach and was given CPR, but died from his injuries. Time of the drowning is unknown.
Wider weather episode
A ridge of high pressure extending from that Atlantic into the Carolinas, setup light southeast flow across the southwest Florida coastline. One man drowned after being caught in a rip current.
