National Ocean Service Tide Gauge at Duck Pier observed a 35 knot wind gust associated with a thunderstorm.

An area of low pressure moved through the Great Lakes, with a trailing cold front that moved through Eastern North Carolina. Ahead of the front a line of showers and thunderstorms developed and moved over the coastal waters producing strong wind gusts.
