Wider weather episode
A surface low deepened to near 988 hPa just to the east of the southern tip of Georgian Bay early Wednesday afternoon on April 4. Damaging wind gusts occurred across the entire area with multiple trees down, wires down, and overturned semis. Multiple structure failures occurred, particularly in the North Country, where one man was killed by the collapse of a sugar shack. High winds pushed ice over the ice boom on Lake Erie and into the Niagara River.
