Event narrative
Heavy rainfall caused a mud to flow across the westbound lane of Interstate 70 at the Avon Exit 167. That portion of I-70 was closed for about 50 minutes until the debris was removed. Radar estimated storm total rainfall was up to 0.50 of an inch in less than an hour.
Wider weather episode
Deep moisture associated with the remnants of what was once Hurricane Bud spread north into western Colorado. This resulted in scattered showers and thunderstorms that produced heavy rainfall.
