Event narrative

The Boylston Fire near Kittitas burned 71,200 acres and was 80 percent contained by July 23rd. The fire started on Thursday the 19th in the median of I-90 east of the town of Kittitas. The fire spread east to the Columbia river and south into lands belonging to the Army's Yakima Training Center. The fire destroyed one residence and three other minor structures. As of the 23rd, Huntinger Road in Vantage is closed, while I-90 Westbound has reopened after being closed intermittently since Thursday. A single eastbound lane is now open and the Department of Transportation says traffic is being piloted through the area.
