During the overnight hours leading up to the morning of June 2, a line of thunderstorms moved through northwest Missouri, heading southeast toward the Kansas City Metro Area. These storms then moved into the KC Metro, causing widespread wind damage across the area. One of the hardest hit areas was downtown Lee's Summit, where numerous large trees were snapped, as 70-80 mph winds went through the city center.
