Event narrative

Six inches of mud flowed across County Road 250 as a result of heavy rain with thunderstorms. 1.48 inches of rain fell in about an hour. Debris also flowed across County Road 203. As a result of all the debris, these roads were closed for almost 3 hours.

Wider weather episode

As high pressure spun southeast of the Four Corners region, subtropical moisture moved northward along the western periphery of the high. This increase in moisture produced some thunderstorms with heavy rainfall in La Plata County. Flash flooding and significant debris flow occurred over the 416 fire burn scar.
