Event narrative

Thunderstorm winds blew down numerous trees and tree limbs throughout the city of Radford. Trees knocked down a dozen power poles in the city, including near the intersection of Auburn Avenue and Vienna Avenue.

Wider weather episode

A closed upper level low combined with a passing cold front sparked scattered severe thunderstorm during the afternoon. These storms blew down plenty of trees and power lines, and they also produced large hail up to the size of half dollar coins.
