Event narrative

Heavy rain caused widespread flash flooding in the town of Marysvale. At least five homes were damaged, a gas line was broken, and mud covered many roadways in the area. The flood waters temporarily forced the closure of U.S. Highway 89 through the center of town.

Wider weather episode

Strong thunderstorms continued to produce flash flooding over central and southern Utah in mid-July. Some thunderstorms also produced some gusty winds over northwest Utah during the evening of July 16.
