Event narrative

Heavy rain over the Dollar Ridge Fire burn scar produced a large flash flood for areas downstream along the Strawberry River. In the Camelot Resort area, 30 adults and 13 children were trapped by the water and debris, and had to be rescued by law enforcement, while nearly a dozen people were rescued in Timber Canyon.

Wider weather episode

A moist air mass remained in place during the third week of July, resulting in flash flooding over southern Utah.
