High Surf — Oahu South Shore, Hawaii

2018-08-21 to 2018-08-27 · Oahu South Shore, Hawaii

Wider weather episode

Hurricane Lane generated swells that affected the east- and/or south-facing shores of all the Hawaiian Islands. Surf heights were mainly in the 8 to 12-foot range, though heights over 20 feet were not that unusual for this episode. Many beaches were closed for a time because of the surf and the close proximity of Lane, which was just west of the Big Island, and just south of Maui County, for an extended time toward the end of August.
