The Mile Marker 44 fire burned in tall grass west of U.S. Highway 97 in southern Yakima county Washington. This fire affected approximately 3,000 acres of open and rugged terrain. No known structures were threatened. Location was roughly 17 miles southwest of Toppenish WA. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. Information from NIFC daily reports.
