Event narrative

A lightning caused fire began August 2nd and continued through the month of August north of Challis. The fire was predominately in Lemhi County but also burned in parts of northern Custer County as well. The fire burned lodgepole pine and douglas fir and higher elevation subalpine fir and whitebark pine. Also grass and brush burned. THe fire grew to over 35,000 acres by the end of August.
