Event narrative
Flash flooding was reported at several locations west-southwest of Reidsville in Toombs County, including the intersection of Jack Collins Road and Levy Cave Road, the intersection of Highway 56 and Ernest Webber Road, Bud Clifton Road, Jim Shuman Road, and Ben Usher Road. Radar estimates indicate that rainfall amounts of 2.5 to 4 inches occurred in a short period of time.
Wider weather episode
Summertime showers and thunderstorms produced locally heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening of August 3. Soils were saturated from rainfall early in the week, and combined with rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches to cause isolated flash flooding, particularly over portions of east central Georgia.
