A brief tornado with maximum winds of 100 mph touched down 4 miles northeast of West Branch, crossing Mud Lake Road. Damage was mostly confined to two homes on the east side of Mud Lake Road.

Another line of thunderstorms crossed northern Michigan in the evening of the 28th. This line produced considerable wind damage, along with a handful of tornadoes.
