Event narrative

A Green County Sheriffs vehicle was swept off of a roadway at a low water crossing due to flash flooding. This low water crossing was located on Cabin Creek Drive, a quarter mile south of State Road AA, where Cabin Creek intersects Cabin Creek Drive. The Deputy was overcome by flood waters attempting to escape the vehicle.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon tracked from the Mississippi Coast into southwest Missouri. Widespread rainfall occurred over the Ozarks Region, with pockets of excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding. The most impactful rain came within a 3-hour time frame over southern Dallas and northern Greene County during the evening of the 7th. A flash flood occurred on Cabin Creek Road, taking the life of a Greene County Sheriff's Deputy.
