What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The tornado began along Knoxville Rd. and traveled northeast through a very forested area. It produced mostly tree damage along its entire path. A mobile home was blown off of its blocks on Bedford Rd. It was in this area that the tornado was its strongest and caused a lot of tree damage in the area. The tornado continued northeast for a few miles before dissipating near New Hope Rd. Maximum estimated winds were 100 mph.

The wider storm

A potent storm system for early Fall impacted the region and a line of showers and thunderstorms moved through the ArkLaMiss region ahead of a cold front. A rare combination of instability and wind shear was in place and storms produced tornadoes, along with damaging winds.

Began near White Apple (31.4642, -91.0279).
