Event narrative

A waterspout was seen at the entrance to the Sakonnet River, between Middletown and Little Compton. No damage was reported.

Low pressure over upstate New York moved east-southeastward across northern Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts during the afternoon and early evening of October 23rd. A warm front extending eastward from the low, combined with strong mid-level wind shear, provided the focus for development of waterspouts over the waters.
