A waterspout was spotted over Block Island Sound south of mainland Rhode Island near Weekapaug. No damage was seen.

The wider storm

Low pressure over upstate New York moved east-southeastward across northern Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts during the afternoon and early evening of October 23rd. A warm front extending eastward from the low, combined with strong mid-level wind shear, provided the focus for development of waterspouts over the waters.

Began near Watch Hill Point (41.3137, -71.7409).
