After a very brief period of light snow, periods of light freezing rain and freezing drizzle resulted in treacherous road conditions with up to a few hundredths of an inch accumulation. One fatality and four injuries (indirect) occurred the following morning when a vehicle lost control on an icy bridge and rolled.
Wider weather episode
Mid-level frontogenesis within the entrance region of a jet streak across northern Wisconsin brought rapid onset to precipitation during the afternoon and evening of November 16. Gradual loss of deep saturation resulted in a trailing area of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle behind the main light snow band.
