Major Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach, FL around 1 PM CDT on October 10, 2018 with estimated maximum winds on 155 mph. Michael then tracked northeast in southern Georgia by that evening.
Michael produced tropical storm force winds over the open Gulf waters of Alabama and northwest Florida, as well as in Choctawhatchee Bay.
The highest winds measured were at bouy 42012 south of Orange Beach which measured 43 mph with gusts to 52 mph. A Choctawhatchee Bay Weatherflow site recorded winds of 40 mph with gusts to 53 mph. A Weatherflow site on the Okaloosa Pier recorded winds of 37 mph with gusts to 52 mph.
