A very cold airmass pushed into Central California on the morning of New Year's Day. This resulted in a hard freeze taking place across the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley where several locations had minimum temperatures below 28 Deg. F. In addition to the cold temperatures, locally dense fog impacted travel for a few hours as some residual low level moisture remained.
