Event narrative

Snow, at times moderate to heavy, developed during the morning hours of January 12th and continued into the afternoon and early evening. Snow amounts of 5 to 8 inches were common across the county. There was a report of 7.0 inches in Shamrock Lakes. Visibilities were reduced to less than a half mile at times. Winds gusting to 30 mph also led to some blowing and drifting. There were reports of minor accidents and slide-offs across the region.

Wider weather episode

An upper level system produced a period of accumulating snow on Saturday January 12th. Snowfall amounts ranged between 3 and 5 inches north of US 30 to 4 to 8 inches south of US 30.
