A tree was reported down on a home near the intersection of Camp Creek Road and Old Mountain Road.

A strengthening low pressure system over Middle America and a strong ridge of higher pressure over the Eastern Seaboard produced a very strong pressure gradient over the Southern Appalachian region causing very strong low-level southerly winds in the

higher terrain in the foothills of the Appalachians and along the Appalachian Crest bordering North Carolina.
