Event narrative

Highway 395 was closed for several hours due to very heavy snowfall rates and poor visibility. A storm spotter near Ukiah reported 6.6 inches of new snow accumulation.

Wider weather episode

A warm front brought heavy snow to the Blue Mountains and the Grande Ronde Valley during the evening of January 22nd. Between 8 and 10 inches of new snow was reported in the Blues with 3 to 6 inches reported in the Grande Ronde Valley. Highway 395 between Pilot Rock and John Day was closed for several hours due to very heavy snowfall rates and poor visibility.
